Symi town is at the heart of the island and divided in a couple of areas Gialos and Chorio.  Gialos Harbour is what you will see as you approach the island and is one of the prettiest harbours in Greece.  It is famous for its beautiful Venetian ochre and pastel coloured mansions and is where the ferries dock from Rhodes.  Symi is also famous for its excellent sea food and Gialos is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat with its cafes, bars and tavernas.

Chorio is an enchanting village offers with characterised by cobbled streets and beautiful restored houses.     The most popular beaches are Nos, Marathounda, Agios Georgios and Agios Nikolaos.

There are spectacular views across the island of its mountains, coastline and historic monuments.  For sightseeing the Monastery of Taxiarchis Mihail Panormitis and the remains of the Castle of the Knights of St. John are well worth a visit.  The major tourist attraction is Symi town itself.
